I have this sword not for fun, but for civil war and/or self defense, I don't care how it looks but that it will maintain itself in war. I have never owned any sword and do not do martial arts of any kind. Therefore i can say nothing about it compared to *other* swords.
The sword seems to be strong enough, it seems unlikely it will break; it is heavy & compact made as one. Swinging it back and forth without any prior practice i had about 7 swings in 5 seconds, which means it's not a lightningly fast (but flimsy) cutter (I imagine.) On the other hand it isn't a heavy sword either, it can be used by one hand it would seem. Heavier then super-light also means better penetration. The curve seems perfectly between too much and too little. The sharpness is ok; it is not ultra-sharp which would require it to be a thin blade, but who wants a blade that is so sharp that it damages with every blow ? It would cut with a sawing motion through a dense type of cartboard reasonably easy. The handle is nice, it grips well and the white stuff underneath seems to be fairly hard. There is on question the handle guard is strong enough to take hits. It is possibly I would give the same kind of review to a sword that is not good, because I don't know enough about swords, but it just seems to be ok.
The only problem is not with the sword but undersigned, who did not take enough care to buy a sword of the correct length. It would seem that I needed a some 15 cm longer blade, which is what this chart also said: http://www.shopwushu.com/pages.php?pageid=13 Therefore I consider this sword a back up sword or a short sword, because I am 1.90 (~6'2 8/10th) and should have a blade of about 86 cm. What that chart suggests seems right to my feeling.
